Questions
Everything people ask us
Does it cost a candidate anything to be put forward for a job?
No. If you are looking for work, our recruitment service is free to you — the employer pays the fee when a placement is made. That is also the law in the UK: an employment agency cannot charge you a fee for finding you work.
Our CV support service is separate and optional. It is a paid service for people who want help with their CV, and you never have to use it to be considered for a role.
What kind of jobs do you handle?
We are proud of helping clients and candidates with a broad range of job requirements at all levels. We recruit office-based staff across secretarial and PA roles, FMCG and the food industry, project management, accounts and payroll, sales, marketing and PR, administration, customer service, HR and logistics. See the full list of sectors.
Where do you recruit?
We are based in Chertsey and work with employers across Surrey and the surrounding area, including Addlestone, Weybridge, Woking, Staines-upon-Thames, Egham, Walton-on-Thames and Guildford. All of our roles are advertised on the leading national job boards.
Do you supply temporary and contract staff as well as permanent?
Yes. We supply permanent, part-time and contract staff. Contract cover suits a business project, a longer term requirement, employee leave, or simply needing an extra pair of hands.
How long have you been going?
Career Outlook was founded in 2003 by Sharon Lockie and Jennie Moss, and has been independently owned and run by them ever since. Between them they have recruited from graduate to director level.
What does it cost an employer?
Our personalised service comes with affordable rates. We offer competitive prices, staged billing options and national job board advertising as standard. Rates depend on the role, so call Jennie or Sharon and we will talk it through with you — there is no charge for the conversation.
How quickly can you get started?
Usually the same day. We are at the end of a phone to discuss CVs and candidates 24/7, because we understand that time is precious during the working day.
What happens to my CV and personal data?
Your CV is only sent to a client with your permission, and only then. We never send it anywhere without asking you first. Our privacy notice sets out what we hold, why, and how to ask us to delete it.
How much does CV support cost?
A CV update with a profile is £40.00. A CV update with a profile, a covering letter and help with your LinkedIn profile is £75.00. Both include a full in-depth consultation.
How long does it take?
We can have your CV ready within 24 hours of our consultation.
Can you look at my CV before I commit to anything?
Yes. If you have a CV you are thinking of asking us to rewrite, we are happy to take a look and give you a free review. No appointment required — just give us a call.
I have a gap in my employment history. Can you help?
Yes. A career gap is very common and it is not the problem people fear it is. We will help you present it confidently and accurately, so it stops being the first thing an employer asks about.
Do you write CVs for people outside your usual sectors?
We write CVs for individuals at all levels within various sectors, not just the sectors we recruit for.
Still not sure?
Ask us directly. There is no charge for a conversation and no obligation afterwards.
